摘要

Major reductions mandated for Fleet operations and maintenance during this and future decades require changes in the Navy's ship machinery support structure and maintenance methodologies. New Condition Based Maintenance (CBM) technologies, currently avaialble and under development, will be needed to determine the limits of degradation that surface ship systems/equipment can incur before mission capabilities are affected and rapair work is necesary to preclude in-service failures. Implementing this CBM technology will provide the Navy with tools it needs to limit in-service failures and significantly reduce maintenance costs during depot level avaialbilities. The Naval Surface Warface Center Ship Systems Engineering Station (NSWCCD-SSES), in support of the Commander, Naval Sea Systems Command (COMNAVSEASYSCOM) and the US Naval Fleet, has supported the advanced applications development and installation of the commercially available CBM software products aboard operational ships within a systems architecture known as the Integrated Condition Assessment System (ICAS).
