INCREASING EFFICIENCY COMMERCIAL VEHICLE OPERATIONS BASED ON DIGITAL TACHOGRAPH AND VEHICLE COMPUTER

Analog tachograph is popular licensed equipment for the travel recorder of commercial vehicle in Japan. Trucking industry recently trends to adopt the licensed Digital tachograph instead of Analog tachograph for safe driving and transportation quality, because Japanese Ministry of Transport approved the data of Digital tachograph by means of the regulations. In view of this trend, we investigated and integrated information equipment in vehicle, and installed both the licensed Digital tachograph and the vehicle computer of Windows CE at the trucks of Sanwa Express Corporation (“Sanwa Express”) is located in Tokyo. They mainly transport sanitary products of a specific maker, and they had used three equipments of an Analog tachograph, a proprietary and non-licensed Digital tachograph, and a portable DOS-PC in the trucks. They had established the advanced freight operation system by those equipments in their own way ten years ago. Then we inherited their logistics system and integrated into two equipments. The new system could unify all management’s information in vehicle to digital data and could output significant management reports from the digital data at the office.
