The method involves inserting a tachograph data carrier (26) having vehicle operator data such as name of driver, into a digital vehicle tachograph (22) of a vehicle (10) such as bus, where the tachograph has a card reader (24) for receiving and reading the tachograph data carrier for identifying an operator of a computer system (30). The data carrier is read, and the vehicle operator data in the tachograph is received. The vehicle operator data is transmitted to a device for performing a vehicle operator login to the computer in dependence of the data carrier inserted into the tachograph.
