摘要

The presence of small features such as thin gaps in a laarge magnetic object presents difficulties for numericla computation. The proposed MINOS neutrino detector displays just such a difficulty, small (apprxo1 mm) but unavoidable gaps in the alrge (approx8 m) iron of the magnets. This paper describes the process of obtaining adequate precision while modeling those gaps.
