The influence of Permanent-Magnet (PM) for Doubly Salient Permanent Magnet Motor (DSPM) system is analyzed by Maxwell 2D Field software package. On the basis of the simulation results of PM induced flux linkage and armature reaction flux linkage, advantages and influence of PM for DSPM are discussed: Permanent magnet field is main field for DSPM. The torque density has been promoted by the effect of PM field. The active stator phase winding will possess small inductances at both aligned and unaligned positions, and maximum inductance appears when the poles are half overlapped.
