Assessment of the Reactivity of Multi-Component Solid Fuel Briquettes

Whilst the Combustion of Solid Fuels has been studied in reat depth, virtually all the published work i this area has concentrated on the combustion of small (<100 mum) single particles (corresponding to pulverised fuel). The combustion of large heterogeneous solid fuels (approximately 5 to 50mm in diameter) is not that well understood and the assessment of the reactivity of these large "lumps" from small prticle measurements cannot necessarily be deduced.
