The first part of a project with the above-mentioned title has been carried out during 1996-1999. It has been a joint effort of the industrial partners Volvo Car Corporation, Saab Automobile AB and Collins & Aikman Automotive AB and the following departments at Chalmers University of Technology: Applied Acoustics, Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering and Polymeric Materials. It was initiated in order to enhance the competitiveness of the Swedish automotive industry and also to increase the co-operation between the industry and the university. It has the ultimate goal of reducing weight of future Swedish car designs.
