Twin wire formers dominate modern papermaking. Drainage rate during paper forming has increased with twin wire forming and higher speeds have been achieved by them. Higher filler content and a trend towards lower basis weight create great challenges in developing retention systems for high-speed paper machines. Simultaneously with this growing need for development work there is a lack of proper laboratory tools.
