A series of numerical analyses of slopes are presented. The horizontal acceleration is applied to the base of the ground. The histories of acceleration response and the residual displacement of slopes during excitation are predicted. Analyses are based on the 2D dynamic elasto-plastic FEM. A simple cyclic loading model, that simulates the G-gamma and h-gamma relationships commonly observed in soil element tests, is applied to the soft clayer ground. The results obtained by the analysis are useful to evaluate the safety of slopes against earthquakes.
