American electric power's summer intern program -project probe

Electric Power (AEP) held Project Probe 1998, a unique summer intern program,for the second consecutive year at the John Amos Plant in St.Albans.W.Va.Probe personnel consisted of fourteen students.Two engineering professors,and a plant liaison.This paper details objectives of Project Probe,methodology of implementation,results of student development and project work,benefits to American electric Power,and compares this year's effort to prior years.Recommendations are presented to encourage other utilities to sponsor similar programs.
