Unresolved US Code Compliance Issues for Wind Energy Structures:The Need for Research

It has been roughly three decades of utility-scale wind farm development in the US without much clear guidance for the design and permitting of these structures. However, since late 2009 an effort has been underway to develop a US Recommended Practice for the design and permitting of wind energy structures. This task has been undertaken by a joint committee of the American Wind Energy Association (AWEA) and the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE).
