摘要

Volvo Car Corporation, together with Ricardo Consulting Engineers, have developed a new detailed approach for predicting the thermal behaviour of a full engine installation in a vehicle. The approach links the coolant and oil circuits through representative metal structure with thermal inertia and convective boundary conditions- Heat rejection from the combustion gas and bearings is modelled explicitly. The external coolant circuit includes heat exchangers and is linked to a simple cab model. Heat exchanger air flow is related to vehicle speed. The model is able to analyse thermal steady state and transient conditions. Validation and applications of the model are described.
