In the context of a project aimed to design and build a very high gradient quadrupole for a possible future upgrade of the LHC low- beta insertions, the Lase lab is collaborating with Europa metalli (I) to characterize an ITD (Internal Tin Diffusion) Nb_3Sn conductor capable of carrying a current desity as high as 1400 A/mm~2 (non copper) at 12 T, 4.2 K.
