Two previous papers by the authros, (1,2), have described numerical investigations into the effect of strong vorticity fields on cylindrical premixed laminar flames. The vorticity fields were created baroclinically by the interaction of planar step pressure disturbances with the expanding flame fronts. The first of these papers, (1), described the numerical techniques used and demonstrated the effect of a single baroclinic interaction on a slowly propagating flame front, whilst the second paepr, (2), examined the effects of double interactions ,with the flame ball being located within a shock tube, closed at one end. Several simualtions involving various flame speeds, viscosities and grid sizes were described in the latter.
