On the transition matrix for SH-wave scattering in a semi-elliptical valley with high aspect ratio

This paper presents the analytic solution of the scattered SH-wave from a semiellipticalalluvial valley by applying the T-matrix formalism. Based on the elliptical coordinates, aset of basis functions is defined by Mathieu functions and the modified Mathieu functions. Theamplitude of the ground response and the spectrum of the semi-elliptical valley subjected to an incidentplane SH-wave are determined and discussed.
