The Weather identification Program (WIP) initiative is a pilot project implemented by the U.S.Enivironmental Protection Agency's Environmental Response Team (ERT) in schools throughout the United States. This initiative is part of an effort to develop and implement an emergency communications network for use by government and non-government organizations. WIP's weather alert system advises ON-Scene Coordinatros (OSCs) and Remedial Project Managers (RPMs) of extreme environmental and weather conditions that could have an adverse impact on site activities, occupational health, and public safety.
