Dynamic scheduling and intelligent control of discrete events in complex processes

Large and complex processes are characterised by their different operations, they can be composed of continuous, discrete - batch, sequential operations, manufacturing, and in many cases hybrid operations take place at the same site such as processes combining continuous processes and sequential ones like packaging, stocking and indexing. These multiple operations lead to increasing uncertainty in the complex. In all these operations, their exist an antagonistic relationship between scheduling and discrete events. On one hand scheduling is organising the behaviour of the system and stabilising the production timetale and rate. On the other hand, discrete events are disturbing the system, creating additional time delay and forcing it to change the scheduling program, priorities and timetable planing. Therefore, an intelligent and dynamic management, co-ordination and control in the system are needed to guarantee its stability. In our study we focus on a neural network based intelligent dynamic scheduling and discrete events transaction management and control.
