With the aim of saving energy and labor, automatization and systematization for moving machines in coke plant have been done. An essential technology for automatization of coke moving machines is the position control which enables a pusher car to position exactly in front of a target coke oven and to push coke safely. Because of very high temperature inside a coke oven, there is a relative position error due to deformation of a coke oven, which can't be compensated by an existing system. This paper presents an implementation of the system which make it possible to measure the relative position error byusing the image processign method and control by driving the main travel motor of a pusher car. The developed system was installed and tested for no.2 coke plant in Kwang-Yang Steel Works,POSCO.
