A crevice/blow-by model has been reconstructed and applied to a quasi-dimensional engine model to account for the effect of crevice/blow-by flows. Engine cylinder pressure and burnrate experimental data were used for model validations. The effect of crevice/blow-by flows on combustion has also been extensively studied for the first time. Model predictions matched the experimental data wehn crevice/blow-by flows were accounted for. Results further showed that the maximum amount of mixtures trapped in the crevice region during the combustion process was about 7
