Going Online? The Case of an e-Pharmacy in Jordan

The use of ICTs by developing countries is seen as a way in which these countries canachieve their development objectives. E-Commerce is seen to provide firms in developingcountries, especially SMEs, with potential benefits. However, realizing such benefits issubject to overcoming obstacles that can face some organizations venturing into onlinebusiness. This paper investigates the case of a pharmacy in Jordan that has started anonline business, was successful at first but then was forced to fail. The case of thispharmacy is analyzed through the theoretical lens of a framework (COME) that takesinto consideration the stages of e-Commerce adoption and the factors that influence thisprocess.
