摘要

This paper deals with behavior of rigid block on rigid base subjected to two dimensional base excitation of horizontal and vertical. In this study, the motions of block are classified into six types, i.e. rest, slide, rotation, slide rotation, translation jump an rotation jump. A strict consideration f impact between block and base s essential to identify the rocking system because the impact motion influences greatly on the rocking behavior and the rociking response. Therefore, not only restitution coefficient between block and base but also friction coefficient between block and base should be included in the modeling of rocking system.
