An improved optical fiber Laser Doppler Velocimeter was used to measure local particle velocity in a high density circulating fluidized bed (HDCFB) at average solids fraction up to 0.25. The results show that the radial profiles of particle velocity shape like a reversed "S" and are influenced by average solids concentration. Large difference between the dilute phase riser and the high density riser.
