Established methods are already in use (e.g.,,van den Brand") for assessing risks from industrial activities in order to compare risks from installations which coexist in a region by taking into consideration the type of industrial activity, of substances involved in processing industries and storage activities, etc. The present paper generalises the ,, van den Brand" methodology on risk prioritisation at regional level for process industries by using fuzzy set models. The new approach takes simultaneously into the consideration, for the plant risk screening and further prioritisation, the following indicators: number of fatalities, of hospitalised people, of hectares lost, monetary losses, etc. Each indicator has associated representation techniques used in the field of fuzzy sets. Rapid assessment of possible consequences at the regional level, due to accidental situations is used by taking into consideration conservative approaches and estimations.
