AEROSPATIALE has conducted the following projects of European Space Agency: - The HUYGENS probe, part of the saturnian mission CASSINI, dedicated to an exploratory descent in TITAN'S atmosphere. - The Atmospheric Reentry Demonstrator (ARD), an Earth reentry capsule aimed at demonstrating Europe capabilities to develop and operate a reentry spacecraft In each of these two projects, AEROSPATIALE has been selected both as prime contractor and responsible for the thermal protection systems. This paper presents an overall view of design, development and qualification activities carried out during these two projects. Afterwards, some information is given about preliminary studies concerning future reentry vehicles currently studied under ESA contracts.
