The coupling of spectroscopic instruments to liquid chromatography instruments has not been as rapidly developed or successful as techniques such as GC-MS and GC-IR. In this presentation, we will look at a new LC-IR interface which holds promise to be a successful marriage fo these techniques. Although it is not a "real time" analysis, it has the advantages of total solvent removal before IR anlaysis, analysis of the total LC effluent as opposed to incremental fractions, and the ability to produce infrared spectra at high signal-to-noise ratios.
