Based on a fefined modeling of the ozone generation process, which consists of a gas discharge phase, a chemical reaction phase and a flowing-through phase of the process gas through the generator, the reason of its low efficiency is investigated quantitatively. The influence of operation and design parameters of ozone generators like gas temperature, gas pressure, dielectric constant, dielectric thickness, gap width and overvoltages are found out for an air driven, conventional generator.
