High temperature air generator (HTAG) is used to generate high temperature preheated air, and ceramic honeycomb heat storage is adopted as preheater of the HTAG. In the hot state experiment of high temperature air generator, by studying the heating and cooling of regenerator, the paper summarizes the heat exchange law and characteristics of ceramic honeycomb heat storage bed in generator and proves that switching time determines the thermal characteristic of heat storage bed. The paper points out that under the steady working state the system switching time is 40~ 60 s. And by calculating its average heat transfer coefficient can reach the value of 54.13 W/ (m2·°C) and its loss of flow pressure is lower greatly than 1000 Pa under the steady state. Compared with adopted the conventional heat accumulating preheater (grid-brick-type and ceramic-ball-type), it can achieve higher transferring-heat ability and lower pressure loss so as to achieve the compact and economic structure.
