Three categories of traffic data: historical; current; and predictive

In this paper, different kinds of traffic data in transportation networks are presented and discussed. Historical data of the city of Duisburg are analysed with regard to a certain classification scheme. A framework for on-line simulations of urban as well as freeway traffic supplemented by real traffic data is shown. Using this sources of information a feasible algorithm for reliable traffic forcasts is discussed.
