The effect of multimodal expression using non-verbal information by a humanoid in emotion recognition - the relationship between head colors and prosodic power

This paper presents multimodal expression using non-verbal information so that a humanoid can naturally communicate with people. The combinations of humanoid voices with five types of prosodic powers and four humanoid head colors are simultaneously presented to several subjects. The results of their emotion recognition show evidence on the relationship between the head colors and the prosodic power; 1) the emotion recognition improves as the prosodic power becomes higher, 2) the color effect is based on color psychology regardless of the power of prosody, and 3) the color effect becomes stronger as the prosodic power is higher.
