This research is concerned with the characterisation of precipitation in V and V-Ti low C microalloyed steels processed by a laboratory scale simulation of the directly charged process. The steels were cast as 50mm thick slabs, stripped from the mould and immediately equalised at a low temperature of 1050°C prior to hot rolling. Samples were removed at various stages during the manufacturing route to follow the evolution of precipitation using analytical electron microscopy.
