Multiple Heads Acting as One Make a Thinking Enterprise

In the 21st century, enterprises must be able to think as a whole body to solve problems where multiple heads think as though they were one. Problems have their own structures that establish the information flow that must occur before the problem can be solved. Organizations also have their own structures that establish the information flows that occur most naturally within the organization. But the problem structure and the structure of the organization solving it may not correspond, requiring some information groping beyond the organization''s natural information flow. The principal method used in the past for solving problems has been reductionism, i.e. reducing the problem into smaller problems until these smaller problems can be understood and solved. This has led to the hierarchical organizational structure where the assumed structure of the problem forms a tree. But many of today''s complex problems do not have tree structures. A non-reductionist approach to problem solving is required.
