Die heads for a multiple die punch are shaped like truncated pyramids with the small bases of the die acting on the work mass. On the lateral surfaces of the die grooves, filled with an impervious material e.g. of plastic, are cut parallel to the base of the die in such a way that the grooves of two adjacent dies forms a pipe. As the punch operates the impervious material in the grooves of adjacent dies comes together offering resistance to the flow-off of material from the work mass thus giving increased pressure in the work mass. For use in high temp. and press. punches in plastic or alloy forming and synthetic gems mfr. Gives mfr. Gives increased press. on the work mass and longer life for dies.
