The Japanese distribution system is quite different to anything in the UK. It looks different, it is designed differently and it is operated differently but, most significantly, it offers the worlds best levels of service to its customers. This presentation offers a description of some of the main characteristics of Japanese operations, the motives behind them and the impressive performance levels achieved. The Kyushu Electric Power Company (Kepco) distribution network is used as the example.
