The objective of The Six Sigma program is tornreduce process variation, from manufacturing torntransactional and from product to service, so that defectivernParts Per Million (PPM) is no more than 3.4 PPM.rnAlthough Six Sigma's tools and methods include many ofrnthe statistical tools that have been used in many otherrnquality improvement programs, here they are used in arnsystematic project-oriented fashion through the DMAICrncycle. To achieve a competitive advantage, many businessesrnnow employ Green Belts and Black Belts to execute SixrnSigma processes. According to the Six Sigma Academy,rnBlack Belts save businesses on the average $230,000 perrnyear, and can complete 4-6 projects a year. There clearlyrnexist financial incentives to employ Six Sigma methodologyrnfor quality improvement.
