Laser Butt welding of Pipes at Different Angles

摘要

We propose a rotary optical head composed by an adjustable focus lens system and two reflecting mirrors to girth weld pipes inwards outwards. The optic head can be inclined at 45°to laser butt weld pipes each other at 90°. The optic head design compensates backlash and vibrations. The laser beam focus position can be computer controlled in order to follow the weld profile. The paper covers theoretical and practical aspects of the proposed device.
