Interior noise is an important index for vehicle’s ride comfort. There exist so many noise sourcesand vibration noises on vehicles simultaneously, it’s important to identify the sources and theircontribution.Transfer characteristic analysis method was used to identify these sources, including the locationand quantity of the sources. In this method, generally the sensors should be placed on each of thepossible noise source or vibration source location. How to configure the sensor net was studiedin the work. Principle component analysis and correlation analysis were used to identify andseparate each of the sources. An optimal sensor configuration was proposed. Finally, the noisessources of a heavy duty vehicle were identified.The experiment result show that the proposed sensor configuration method could be used toidentify the vehicle noise sources accurately, and the number of the sensors could be reduced,it’s easy to place these sensors in the complex vehicle structure.
