The effect of slight hot deformation of austenite on the intragranular nucleation of ferrite and pearlite at inclusions in austenite was investigated using Fe-1.5Mn-0.2C (for ferrite transformation), in which MnS or MnS+V(C,N) can be formed by adding, S.V and N, and Fe-12Mn-0.8C (for pearlite transformation) containing MnS. In the specimens with no inclusion in austenite, ferrite transformation occurs solely by grain boundary nucleation even after slight hot rolling prior to transformation. However, intragranular ferrite nucleation is enhanced in the specimen with MnS+S(C,N) complex precipitates after slight hot rolling. It was also found that slight hot deformation of austenite (10-30
