Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) provide a range of services, the most important of whichis the distribution of map information as a navigation aid to car navigation terminals andmobile terminals such as personal data assistants (PDAs) and mobile phones. However, it isdifficult to provide map information to mobile devices in the most intelligible form due torestrictions such as display size, usability of operation, and performance[1]. This paperproposes a pedestrian route guidance system based on a vector map framework with asimplification algorithm for providing more intelligible, cognitive-map to computers andmobile terminals.
