Damage of building foundations and building sites by Mid Niigata Prefecture Earthquake 2004

摘要

In the Mid Niigata Prefecture Earthquake, 2004, slope failures andlandslides occurred frequently and there were many damagedfoundations and building sites resulting from the ground condition. Alot of foundation damage by liquefaction occurred not only in the areaalong the shore but also residential areas which had buried the old riverchannel.The feature and tendency of disasters of a building were summarized inthis research. The damage by liquefaction or landslide was investigatedusing soil data by the sounding and the surface wave method in twodimensional models. In addition, the present condition on seismicdesign of housing foundation in residential areas in Japan, and thefuture task are reported.
