Damage of building foundations and building sites by Mid Niigata Prefecture Earthquake 2004

摘要

In the Mid Niigata Prefecture Earthquake, 2004, slope failures and landslides occurred frequently and there were many damaged foundations and building sites resulting from the ground condition. A lot of foundation damage by liquefaction occurred not only in the area along the shore but also residential areas which had buried the old river channel. The feature and tendency of disasters of a building were summarized in this research. The damage by liquefaction or landslide was investigated using soil data by the sounding and the surface wave method in two dimensional models. In addition, the present condition on seismic design of housing foundation in residential areas in Japan, and the future task are reported.
