INSTRUMENTING A NUCLEAR PLANT - AN OVERVIEW

With the upcoming Nuclear Renaissance, many instrumentation engineers are eager to gain an understanding how specifying and procuring of instrumentation will be different. This paper will present the governing documents and regulations for a nuclear plant as outlined in Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) documents such as Reg. Guide 1.206, Format and Content of the Combined Operating License Application. The governing documents, the clarification of safety versus non-safety, and ways to prepare specifications/data sheets for procurement will be discussed.
