Scan rate conversion is a very important task for modern Multimedia applications. Using to day's standard conversion techniques there often remain disturbing motion artifacts. Furthermore vector based techniques mostly require an enormous amount of hardware. We have investigated static hardware efficient Median filtering techniques for converting picture standards. Starting with a proscan conversion we examined several kinds of Median filters regarding motion portrayal, flicker reduction and spatial resolution. We have found out that some Median techniques offer a good motion portrayal while reducing the spatial resolution and leaving disturbing flicker effects. There are also Median techniques with reverse attributes.
