CHASID experiments with ways to support authors by giving them an extension to their authoring applications that allows them to build a model of the content structure of their document and checks that. The aim is to give the author confidence about not having some 'simple' error in the document. Like a spelling checker in another dimension, CHASID spots some errors (comparable to non-words found by a spelling checker), but cannot be expected to find everything a somewhat competent human reader would detect (like a spelling checker not detecting grammatical errors). This demonstration begins with the author loading a simple XML document into CHASID, continues with him editing it there, introducing a structural problem that is likely to be overlooked in conventional authoring. CHASID, however, detects it and produces a warning. The demonstration closes with ways in which this condition can be fixed. This document generally follows this sequence of steps, after presenting with a brief overview of core concepts.
