Abstract: The expressions for the threshold intensity and amplification coefficient, in practical units, of the convective two-plasmon decay instability in a laser-produced plasma are obtained using the fluid theory and accounting for the plasmon collisional damping. Analyses of these expressions show that the plasmon collisional damping significantly increases the threshold for excitation of the instability and reduces the amplification coefficient as well as the excited spectrum of the plasmons substantially for electron temperatures smaller than 1 keV.!14
