摘要

Experimental results on the characteristics of viscosity η of unimodal and bimodal alumina/epoxy mixtures are shown, and then discussed and estimated based on theoretical considerations. Spherical alumina particles with 35 and 80 μm in diameter D were used as fine and coarse particles, respectively. Viscosity estimation of the unimodal mixture from a small number of measurements can be done reasonably by using Brinkman equation. While, viscosity estimation of the bimodal mixture for lower packing fraction v_p can be done by using Farris method, and for higher v_p, by a modification of Farris method that we proposed. Both methods utilize the unimodal estimation result by Brinkman equation. These estimations are considered to be applicable in the fabrication process of the epsilon-FGM by centrifugal method and its simulation code.
