The concept of "equipotential bonding" had been an important principle in EMC design. Based on the circuit approach, this paper investigates the distribution of the node voltage on such building structures during a direct lightning stroke. The simulation results have shown that the concept of "equipotential bonding" is only applicable in a limited area. The effectiveness of the equipotential bonding measures depends on the connecting way of the ground wire of the equipment. Some suggestions for effective equipotential bonding are also given.
