Many power plants in the USA have required retrofitting for chemicalrntreatment of their cooling systems to prevent Biofouling and ZebrarnMussel infestation.rnOntario Power Generation decided to test alternatives to chlorination.rnVarious options were considered, including the addition of intermittentrnhigh concentration ozone by the Mitsubishi Anti-Biofouling OzonernSystem (MABOS).rnThis unique MABOS system allows a small ozone generator torncontinuously produce ozone and for the ozone to be stored in anrnabsorption tower that is kept at a temperature of –30℃. Twice dailyrnthe entire ozone content of the absorption tower was released into therncooling water stream. The pilot study showed 100% control of ZebrarnMussels.
