This paper has described a methodology for developing a two-phase flow correction for gas/liquid mixtures, illustrated with a case study of high viscosity oil. The correction has been developed and tested in a laboratory for both steady and slugging two-phase flow. Field trials at a Venezuelan oilfield have demonstrated that the meter has the potential to replace conventional separators. While more research is needed to get a deeper understanding of two-phase flow phenomena in Coriolis meters, and in particular to obtain more general models based on engineering principles, there can be little doubt that Coriolis metering can now offer two-phase capabilities for economically important applications.
