An experimental setup was built to investigate the thermal performance of three flat miniature heat pipes with different wall materials and inner groove structures. The thermal performance of the FMHP and the effects of the charge ratio, the cooling method at the condenser, the inclination of the heat pipe and the inner groove structure were analyzed respectively. The overall effective conductivities of two FMHPs are as high as 5.4 to 8.2 times that of copper. The maximum heat flux obtained for that with rectangular grooves exceeded 62.9 W/cm~2. It was found the gravity could raise the effective conductivity slightly while the charge ratio and groove structure could influence the thermal performance significantly.
