The cooling unit (1) has a base plate (11) comprising a flat surface (111), which forms a groove (1111). The groove comprises an open side (1111a) and a closed side (1111b). A connecting part (112) is formed at a joint of the groove and the flat surface. A heat pipe (12) is arranged in the groove, and comprises a side surface (121), which is aligned to the flat surface. A mounting structure (13) is arranged on the connecting part. A side of the mounting structure is provided with a rough surface. The base plate is made of metal e.g. copper or aluminum, or non-metal i.e. plastic. An independent claim is also included for a cooling unit manufacturing method.
